Bluegrass Community and Technical College Foundation, Inc.

Project: Guided Pathways for First Year Orientations

Result: First Year Orientation was redesigned using Guided Pathways model to assist entering students to prepare for classes, adjust to college life, find a career pathway, and know about services. Approximately 1,400 students attended orientation at all campuses. Final report will be provided June 2024.

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Foundation

Project: Coaching SAP Students to Success

Result: The program provided support to students who failed to meet the required Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards to continue financial aid. Coaches' intrusive coaching plan assisted students to meet requirements. The project group demonstrated a rate of 62% success in moving to next semester. A comparable randomly selected group of SAP students from a previous semester showed a rate of 48%.

Owensboro Community and Technical College Foundation, Inc.

Project: Breaking the Cycle Mentoring Internship Program

Results: An experiential learning internship provided mentoring by OCTC students, in partnership with local youth services organizations, to promote persistence and success of underrepresented minority (URM) youth. Eight students completed the mentoring program and four completed all coursework. Mentors rated their experience at a 9.4/10. URM youth received valuable mentoring services and positive exposure to OCTC.

Paducah Junior College, Inc. for West Kentucky Community and Technical College

Project: Increasing Student Success and Persistence Through  

Innovative, Equitable and Diverse Course Design

Results: The grant supported the launch of an Innovative Faculty Leaders model for course redesign. By Fall 2023, 5 faculty redesigned 8 courses with 19 sections and 371 students. Student success rate (A, B, or C grade) for the redesigned Summer 2023 courses in biology and business show a 5.6% increase (80.2% to 85.8%) for all students’ successful completion and a 3.6% increase (73.7% to 77.3%) for underrepresented minority students. Final report will be provided June 2024.

Fall 2021

Gateway Community and Technical College Foundation, Inc.

Project: 3D Printing Technician Certificate Program

Result: Funded equipment for new certificate in 3D Printing Technician. Goal of 16-18 credits and 10 certificates a year. Two mandatory introduction classes offered in Spring 2022 with 8 students successfully completing, and 11 students registered for fall. 

 

Kentucky Community and Technical College System Foundation, Inc.

for Elizabethtown Community and Technical College

Project: Brothers Finding Careers

Result: Designed to encourage underrepresented minority and low-income male students to enroll in high-achieving programs, with high employment and equitable pay.  JCFF funds supplied materials. College reports 40% of eligible students (38) participated in program. 92% completed career assessments, and 76% did career exploration.

College Foundation, Inc./Henderson Community College

Project: Hispanic/Latino Outreach Student Recruitment Program

Result: Goal to increase services to current and prospective Hispanic/Latino students. Outcomes included translating materials, orientation, FAFSA bilingual services, and connections with local churches. Increase in college enrollment of 26 Hispanic/Latino students, growth of 34% over prior year.
